Flap Gauge

Hello, I finally finished the Flap gauge conversion started from an old boeing 727 flap gauge.
The conversion consisted in removing the existing resolvers and replacing one of them with a pot with dual side shaft: to the front shaft is directly connected the flap needle and to the back is connected a motor with planetary gear reduction. I used a kit from Tamiya which was very useful and cheap!
The front face has been made by my friend Valerio on the specs of the existing face to fit the chassis and with the 767 side crown raised. a wonderful job!!

Here are 2 pics of it at natural and lighted and following a video of it workin:

  1. Great job on the retro-fit from the 727 to the 767. the instrument looks really good. How are you driving it?

  2. Hi Curd! well...first I opted for a single needle instead of dual....anyway FS has limitations on it so not worth to lose time on that dual setup....then I Replaced tthe front resolver with a same size potentiometer with dual side shaft: the fron is directly connected to the needle, while the back is connected to a DC motor through a planetary gearbox like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-Dynamic-Planetary-Gearbox-Motor-Set-Z-72001-/270775928310?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0b80c5f6 from Tamiya. Then it's driven like all other gauges I use, with DC motor card with pot feedback :)
